Picture Book - Horatio Humble Beats the Big D (dyslexia)
by Margot Finke
Horatio Humble was a smart boy - but he had trouble reading. Told in fun rhymes, this book encourages and helps both kids and parents
When Horatio struggled to read the words,
The letters all clumped into frightening herds.
As his tongue jumbled words without success,
What came from his mouth was a mangled mess!
His parents had a meeting with his teacher in the Gym.
Horatio trembled, wishing he was not there.
"They don't understand and they don't even care!"
Then an odd sounding word floated around the Gym,
The word was DYSLEXIA. . . and they were looking at him!
Find out how Horatio did in Special Ed class. A Parent teacher guide at the back offers links to serious help, and clues about early detection - the earlier the better.
And some way famous people have dyslexia:
Daniel Radcliffe, Orland Bloom, Oprah, Magic Johnson and Albert Einstein, to name a few - not a dummy among them.
