Literature And Fiction: The Salty Dog

by Debbie White

Literature And Fiction, Romance: The Salty Dog.

Life is about to throw Libby a curve ball. Will she and Luke make a go of it with his crazy idea of owning and operating a commercial fishing boat in the quaint little seaside town of Bodega Bay?

To help occupy her time while Luke spends hours out on the water, she does what any strong, independent woman does – she buys a café to keep herself busy. After an event that even Libby could not have prepared for leaves her running both businesses, Libby draws on her inner strength and the strength of her friends and colleagues.

The Salty Dog is about love, loss and the determination to move forward.

Read What One Book Reviewer Had To Say Below!

Let me first say this: sometimes it is just refreshing to dive into a gentle read. Don't get me wrong...there is a time and a place for edge-of-your-seat entertainment, but sometimes you just want to take the time to breathe along with the characters whose lives you are inhabiting for a time. Such is the case with The Salty Dog.

Author Debbie White has created such a sweet story. Our heroine, Libby, is successful, well-loved, and very much "together," but she unexpectedly finds herself in a situation which makes it impossible for her to carry on with life as she has known it. It's equally impossible for her to truly begin again.

The easy analysis would be to say that Libby does begin anew, but I don't believe that's the case - and for me that explains a great deal about the book's charm. Libby is not an immature young thing trying to "find herself."

She is a grown woman with responsibilities, relationships, and commitments. She has known true love and it has shaped her. The easy thing to do, when her life is turned upside down, would be to run away, and many authors may have taken the easy way out and sent Libby down that path. Debbie White didn't take the easy path.

She took the honest, realistic, relatable path, and that makes The Salty Dog irresistible. To "begin again" would be to deny the power of the past, so instead Libby just keeps on going.

Author Bio

I write easy to read romance books that could also be classified as women's fiction/sagas that are great for taking to the beach, reading while traveling, or to help relax after a long busy day. My books feature independent, strong women who in the midst of finding themselves, sometimes endure tragedy, but always strive to enjoy life to the fullest. My books will always end on a positive note as I believe we have enough instances in our life when things don't go as planned. Writing and reading about happiness is therapeutic for me and many others.

My books are about real life, and real events - some that I've experienced first hand. I've embellished the stories - as any good writer does, and changed the names to protect the innocent while trying to entertain and delight readers.

I avidly support animal rescue, and happily donate a percentage of my book sales to local shelters and animal rescue organizations. I have two adorable rescue dachshunds, Dash and Briar - you'll see pictures of them on my website.

I feel my books offer readers another choice besides what is currently available in fiction. I hope you enjoy my books.
