Literature And Fiction: The Assassination Arrow
by J. Allan Smith
Clovis had put the arrow exactly where he intended. Without hesitation, he eased out of the cleft of the cliff that he had used to conceal himself and where he had been waiting. He has a story to tell and one that needed to be told, but how could he prove his story was true? If he cannot survive, the truth about killing Vice President Peterson may never be known.
What One Reader Had To Say!
I was amazed at the way this story was appealing on so many different levels. Anyone would be able to enjoy it because the story itself was such a fast paced adventure, yet written in a way that the reader never felt left behind. The plot was ingenious and very believable.
The attention to detail was incredible and transported the reader right into the "Bob". My mind's eye could see, smell, hear, and feel every scene. This level of detail could only come from someone who has, not just visited the outdoors, but actually lived there. The reason I know this is because anyone can describe, even with great detail, the colors, textures, shapes, and sounds of the wilderness. But only someone who has really lived there could take you there in your mind and explain why things are the way they are and why things happen the way they do in the wild.
One who spends a great amount of time outdoors not only learns the mechanics of the forest, but also learns great and valuable principles about life itself. Principles like justice, mercy, integrity, and honesty. He learns that life isn't always fair and doing the right thing isn't always easy. He also learns the value of friends and family. Mr. Smith weaves all of these principles and values into a beautiful work of art. Congratulations, Mr. Smith, on a job well done.
J. ALLAN SMITH was raised in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and Montana where he developed a passion for the mountains. As a youth, he spent every possible opportunity hunting, fishing, or trapping, but he also had aspirations to become a preacher. He followed that dream to Texas where he earned his B.S. Degree in Secondary Education from Lubbock Christian University in 1986.
Since then he has also earned his Masters Degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Communication. Now he and his wife Vicky live in the log house they built on a small farm in Middle Tennessee. Together they enjoy hunting, fishing, backpacking, horseback riding and relaxing on the front porch. Here you can often find him watching the deer and turkey feeding in the front pasture, visiting with friends, reading The Word, and, of course, writing.
