"Very well written, in a style sometimes reminiscent of Nabokov" - Colin Wilson, author of "The Outsider".

Literary Fiction: Tranquility.

Seven is a boy in crisis. He's had a revelation and laments to his 'friends' the prevailing cruelty and loss of faith. Meanwhile, a memoir surfaces in which a decadent Hungarian strangles everyone in sight.

Part love story, hate tale, allegory and curio, "Tranquility" reflects on the eternal themes of faith, love, greed, justice and death.

This book is wonderfully compelling, with a story that draws you in, bit by bit. It's a labyrinthine plot and as we know they can sometimes be unnerving because nothing's ever straightforward and you're never sure where the narrative's heading, but that's also the key to its dark beauty; it leads you down a memorable journey filled with strange characters, haunting settings and ultimately satisfying connections.

The characterisation is a welcome step away from the standard novel, and the character of '7' is particularly fascinating. A wonderful book by a first-time author. Look forward to reading more of Peter Jakobsen's work.
