#Cookbook: Wine Dine Africa
by Patience Chirisa
African Cuisine from Morocco to Madagascar—and Beyond!—Accessible
The exciting and easy-to-prepare recipes featured in the book, geared for the home cook, feature the varied cuisines of Africa from Morocco to Madagascar, Nigeria to South Africa, Congo to Zimbabwe, and Sudan to Sierra Leone. "Sharing food unites people and it helps us discover and honour our common values,” Patience Chirisa says.
Though Wine Dine Africa introduces foods that sound exotic to some, its recipes actually highlight the commonalities among cultures: love of good food, respect for quality ingredients, and a nod to tradition. It features mouth-watering recipes for dishes such as Sosaties (grilled marinated meat with apricots) , fried okra, Moroccan Lamb Tagine among myriad foods the home cook will love to prepare and share.
Patience Chirisa acknowledges that it can sometimes be difficult for the home cook to find the unusual ingredients for exotic recipes. To make the foods of Africa accessible to the home cook, she incorporates Western ingredients—all while preserving authenticity. “Making and sharing African food is the best way I know,” she says, “to celebrate the joy of being African-Canadian."
Wine Dine Africa will be available for sale on Friday, November 23, 2013 from our website www.winedineafrica.com, and from retailers nationwide, retailing for $29.99. Chock-full of flavorful recipes, the book advocates using simple: fresh, local, and organic foods.
“Using the best ingredients you can afford, and doing as little as possible to them,” she says, creates "delicious food that tastes of itself.”
